Half the Type 2 diabetics were randomly assigned to receive routine care only, and the other half were assigned to receive topical olive oil as well as routine care. After 4 weeks of treatment, the ulcers being treated with olive oil were smaller in depth and diameter than those treated with routine care only. They were also a healthier color.
