According to an article published in the online journal PLOS ONE in July 2015, 44 studies on diabetes and pancreatic cancer were pooled and analyzed as if they were one large study. It was found for the participants who had diabetes for a year or more, the risk of pancreatic cancer was 64 percent higher than it was in nondiabetic participants. Those who had diabetes for at least five years had a 58 percent increased risk. Participants who had diabetes for 10 years or more had a 50 percent increased risk.
